I ran yesterday morning and it felt SPLENDID! I'm so thankful to be out there again. I did the same route as the day before and ran it at a slightly faster pace, but still an easy one, (9:21/mile). I'm easing back into the running and will top off at about 15-16 miles for this week. I'll run again on Saturday. My toe is sore for brief moments here and there, but NO PAIN!
Today I cross trained at the gym with 1 hour on the elliptical. I took my heart rate frequently and it averaged between 150-165 bpm. Felt like a very good tempo run without the pounding. I followed it with CrossFit, my 2nd fitness "love."
3 Rounds of:
100-feet of walking lunges (subbed 5 sets of 75-ft. walking lunges)
50 airsquats
25 back extensions
You wanna know something? I'm toast, completely done, wiped out. Put a fork in me!
Gotta do some house cleaning and then I can relax later and find out who gets the boot on American Idol. Oh the drama!

Great job. So happy to hear you are back out there again. I watched AI too last night. Oh the drama is right. LOL...
Have a great day!
Running again!!
YEAH I'm so happy for you!!
Have a Great Week!!
Gladys
Right on GB, Glad to see you running again!
One thing though, this is the 1st time I ever read "toast,wiped-out, completely done" in your post. It's kind of odd since you are SUPERWOMAN!!! LOL.
50 airsquats---WOW...
I seen that video on airsquats on crossfit site...I started them last week, great exercise!!
Glad ur toe is better, ENJOY ur RUNS!!
Good to see you are being so sensible, Lord knows I'm not! lol. Dang, took my daughter shopping for a dress (5th Grade grad) and missed AI...ah, but it was worth it. Took two of her girlfriends along. Very insightful listening to them all talking about weight, clothes, boys! aggg!!
I ran across your blog, through Dirt Diva's blog. She and I get together, sometimes with our dogs, and run or do crossfit. I wanted to tell you, I think your legs look great in that photo. I love that you have such a strong faith in God. Trail running is an awesome way to get to see and appreciate all he has created for us. Keep up the good work.

It always feels good to be able to run again after a forced layoff. Welcome back to running! I love your blog by the way. I found it from the runners world forums.
Great job on the cross training and the run! It's so beautiful out lately, I'm glad you get to run again and enjoy it. :)
Awesome! I'm so excited for you... and each time I read that you did a CF workout... I kick myself because I haven't despite my good intentions.
well i can't BELIEVE who got the boot on AI. Made me so mad, I refuse to watch the final. (willpower! must exercise willpower!)
Athena, I actually wasn't surprised that Melinda got the boot. Now, is it going to be Blake or Jordin? I can't believe I watch that show!!! I'm hooked.
Makita, don't sweat the small stuff! Over the long haul, you'll get those CF workouts in. :)
Jen, hasn't the weather been awesome! I am definitely happy to be out there running in the elements (okay, the sunshine) again. Can't wait to feel good enough to start race training. I want to do some short distances before summer is over.
Vanilla, glad you enjoy the blog and I hope you'll visit and comment regularly! I love RW Forums. Tons of good info there.
Jo Lynn, thanks so much for visiting and thanks for the compliments! I completely agree that trail running (and running in general) makes one really appreciate the beauty of nature. It's almost impossible to not look up at the sky sometimes and just say "thank you for this." I'm new to CF, but have quickly become addicted and don't think I'll ever go back to standard weight training regimens. Please visit and comment again soon!
Perry, isn't it amazing how much our young kids are already talking about that stuff! My daughter is only in the 3rd grade and she talks about "crushes." I ask her what a crush is and she shrugs and says, "I dunno." And she really has no clue. I think I let her watch too much Disney Channel! ;)
Bob, how you recovering from Death Valley? Hey, you have to give me full credit for THREE sets of 50 squats! C'mon now! ;)
Jojit, superwoman? NOT. Anal retentive...possibly. hahahaha.
Gladys, thanks for stopping by. I know you're very busy these days! Good to hear from you.
OCRunnergirl I am very glad to be back out there, indeed. Thanks for the well wishes.
