Anyway, I didn't take a rest day after the Turkey Trot on Thursday. On Friday I pushed the baby in the jogging stroller for 4.4 miles, and today I pushed him for 9 miles. We actually ran 6 with the running club (they are so awesome) and 3 on our own. So the running combined with the shoveling, digging, bending over plants, squatting, etc., has left me BEAT. I'm resting tomorrow. Going to church and probably doing laundry, but that's it.
I looked back at the last week of training before I ran Boston in April, and the 9 miles I did the weekend before was run at an 8:42 pace. The 9 I ran today with bambino was at an 8:18 pace and it felt very easy and comfy (but CHILLY). Poor baby's face was kinda blue when we had finished, even though he was wearing umpteen layers and a hat.
One more week until the marathon. I am so excited and happy about running it. Training for a marathon is so time consuming and exhausting, but when you actually get to run the race it makes it all worth the trouble. Just the thought of it brings a smile to my face.
Anyway just for fun, here is a link to my race report from last year's CIM. Mostly to remind myself that I've done it before and I can do it again. :) It's where I qualified to run Boston and it will always be my favorite marathon.

WOW What a report that was!! I got really teary eyed several times....and so sad for your friend!! Did she run another and get her BQ? I sure hope so!
You really do amaze me, and not just by your running. You are always SO encouraging, to me, just a pretty casual runner (who loves it of course!)...I keep thinking I'm not a distance runner, etc etc...and then I read your reports and I think...maybe I CAN do that. I'm thinking my BQ time will go down when I hit 50 next September...lol.
Just wanted to say thanks. I only know you through the forums, and your blog, but I feel like I'm blessed to have you a small part of my running life...you don't just "talk the talk", girl...you "run the run"..:O)
Great photos GB! I think I will go back and read my CIM report from last year also- great idea!
I would love to meet up this weekend in Sacramento! I will also be at the expo Saturday early afternoon, so just let me know what time and I'll find you. I know the Starbucks you are talking about. If not, maybe you will see me finish! I hope to be coming through at 3:35 or so. :) Let me know what time for Saturday! If I don't see you, best of luck and have a fun race! I know you are going to do great.
Oh my, I am crying in the airport. Great race and report!!!
I am sooo delayed and hoped I would get a run in at my destination. I am trying to fight off the fast food cravings after being here for 3 hours!! This will help, GB !!
Perry, Jen and Nancy, thank you!!!
Keep on running, Perry. Just stay healthy and you will run Boston someday.
Jen, I will look for you around the expo and Starbucks on Saturday. I can't believe it's almost here!
Nancy, I hope you have a good trip. Safe travels!
