Recovery

Thanks to everybody who read and commented on the race report. My body feels pretty normal, legs are a teeny bit sore but mostly fine. I might do a very easy, very slow 20 minute run today with the dog. Or I might do it tomorrow.

I think I'm going stir crazy though. Last year we all went to Disneyland after the marathon. This year we're home... I guess it's time to focus on other things for a while (like house cleaning, for one).

As soon as the race pics come up on the CIM website, I'll post them (if they don't completely suck). I hope you're all enjoying these days leading into the holidays. Make them special. I'm going to try!

Hi,
I have read your blog for awhile and I consider you a huge inspiration. Congratulations on an awesome time!! Man, that's fast. You had mentioned that you carbo loaded quite a bit and had a certain amount of carbs you wanted to eat in a day prior to the race. Could I ask where you got the information you used? I am running my second marathon in May and am the same age as you and am looking to BQ. Just wondering what helped you. You are amazing.

GB,

Glad to hear your body is feeling normal and getting back to normal. Look forward to your race pics [they can never be as bad as my typical "face-of-pain" race pics ;-)]

Take care and hope you have enjoy the holidays as well!

Cleaning the house - that is so what my hubby is hoping I'll get around to doing. :)

I plan to do a little easy run today. I'm itching to get out there.

So when do you think you'll start to train for Boston '08? Do you just begin anew the same training plan or do you up the beginning mileage a bit since you've already established a base?

I'll likely plan to run Eugene again (though this time I vow not to break my wrist - and thereby run the full, not the half).

GB,

Enjoy your recovery. I'm off to Dallas in the morning and will be runnung the Wellstone's White Rock Dallas Marathon on Sunday. It will be my third in nine weeks. It's suppose to be hot. Not good.

Hi Michelle, thanks for commenting on the blog. I follow McMillan's pre-marathon nutrition recommendations. The link is http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/rununiv/marathonprep.htm
It is extremely helpful! The marathon is a different animal and requires CRAZY amounts of fuel. Good luck!

Gregory, thanks bud! I hope all is well on your side of the world. ;)

Makita, I am going to continue using our plan, but I am going to up the mileage on those mid-week runs (the "hard" days) so that I can peak out at about 70mpw instead of 58-60. I love the plan we're on. It's like a mish mash of all the plans out there and I don't get bored on it. Go for Eugene, you're soooo close to a BQ!

GAJ, good luck in Dallas. I hope it's not as hot as predicted. Run w/ the Lord!!!

Thank you so much! I plan to stick with the plan as well but this time I hope to stick to it as prescribed. I averaged 35-45 miles/week training for CIM. 55+ is where I want to be next time.

:D
