So I commented on Girl In Motion's blog about doing a workout that incorporated pull ups (assisted are okay), dips (supposed to be ring dips, but I don't have rings), and sit ups. Basically... do as many rounds possible in 20 minutes of 5 pull ups, 5 dips and 15 sit ups. The actual CrossFit workout of the day called for 30 minutes... but I'm not in that kind of shape right now. So 5, 5, and 15 doesn't sound too bad, right? Okay, well I did 10 rounds in 20 minutes and I had to do jumping pull ups in lieu of regular pull ups. That's 50 jumping pull ups, 50 dips and 150 sit ups.
Immediately afterward I cooled down with a one mile jog... I could barely move!!! My upper arms and rear deltoids are already on fire. I have a feeling the DOMS will set in hard tomorrow and even worse on Friday. That's okay because my race is Sunday and I'm sure I'll feel normal again by then. The sit ups were good. In fact I felt very strong during those sit ups... but my upper body is so weak. Ugh. Gotta get that overall strength back.
Stay strong!

I've really been trying to work on my abs... I always start them and then don't follow through long enough to see any benefits.
Thanks for your comment yesterday! I am realllly excited for the half on Sunday, especially after an awesome tempo run yesterday :) Have a great race!!
Lol, that's what you get for posting "just do blah blah pull-ups blah blah dips, blah blah other painful things...and there you have it!". :-) Seriously girl, I'm going to email you when I get my chin-up bar to say "I did one!!!" (though I'll have to stand on a chair to even get through that).
You go girl, may the DOMS never appear and this Sunday find you to be a strong racing gazelle.
You should see me in the gym. I dawdle around like a kid who hates being in P.E. class. I signed up for some sessions with a trainer last year and for a few more this year. It's paying off, my core is definitely stronger and weak upper body is not as weak and it has helped prepare me for the jump in overall weekly miles. I'll need to back off a bit though once my races start.
ugh - you're a stud. What race do you have sunday? Are you running Boston? Someday we will run one together! How's your injury?
Uh oh, I may have to do your workout sooner rather than later. I managed a chin-up or two. Shock and Amazement. This is all your fault. :D Seriously, thanks for being a tough girl, it's contagious.
