No Race, Just a 10K Run

My training schedule called for a 10K race today, but because I raced an 8K last weekend, I thought I'd take this weekend a little easier. It's a cutback week after all (when you run 20-40% less than your normal weekly training mileage in order to let your muscles recover and to avoid burnout).

Gorgeous day today. Sunny, in the low 70's. Everybody was outside today and it was great. I ran past the college and there was a track meet going on. I wanted to watch the team compete, but more importantly I wanted to get home to my family.

I ran 6.3 miles (a little more than a 10K) at an 8:39 pace (54:30). It was a little faster than "easy" pace, but definitely not "hard." The pace felt great. Tomorrow I'll run 10 miles after church and probably run the middle 4 miles at marathon goal pace (8:00-8:10 minute miles).

As I "iced" in the pool today, the kids sat in the hot tub, and then my daughter decided she wanted to be like mom and "ice" her legs in the pool. She didn't get very far! She kept calling me "crazy lady" for standing waist deep in the water.

Here are some fun pics of her as she attempted it, and to make it better our dog shook the water off all over her!

Brrrrrr it's ccccooooollllddddd.

The dogger doesn't think so! He loves the cold water.

If you read Runner's World magazine, this month's issue features a woman namded Susan Love as a "Real" runner. She's the lovely lady who helped me start the Just Run Program at my kid's school. She's truly inspiring and wonderful, inside and out. I hope you read about her and see why the Just Run Program is such a success.
TOTAL MILES: 6.3
