Yesterday & Today (No, not the 70s band)

Yesterday I woke up very sore, like I had done some kind of killer weight training routine a couple of days before. The hard running and lack of sleep was getting to me. I was going to bag my scheduled run of 10-12 miles with 10 minutes of total uphill time. But after I got moving and after seeing how gorgeous a day it was, I decided to run and just take it easy.

It was almost 80 degrees at the beginning of my run (the high yesterday was 84), and to me it was perfect. I ran the first 8 miles easy, at a 9:30 pace, and really started to feel loose. After a pitstop at home I ran to the local park which is attached to a large rain basin (about .8 miles in diameter). Our family has gatherings there in nice weather, and the college distance teams run their "hill drills" there. That's how I got the idea to run the sides of the basin. I did that for 20 minutes, accelerating up the sides and coasting down the sides. It felt great. I was getting winded but I wasn't super sore. After I finished at the park, I jogged an easy mile home. Then I jumped into our pool, which felt awesome. I didn't have to bundle up even though it was chilly. The sun was so warm that my upper body was fine in a swimsuit.

After school I took the kids to their first track practice and they did great in the heat. I took the baby for another mile around the track to kill some time.

Today my hubby was so sweet and gave me a chance to sleep in until 9:15. I needed that sleep badly! I think that's why my body feels pretty normal today. I have an easy 4 mile recovery run and I think my husband is joining us. :)

Afternoon Update: Did CrossFit WOD, For time: 30 hand stand push ups, 10 pull-ups, 20 hand stand push ups, 20 pull ups, 10 hand stand push ups, 30 pull ups. I substituted jumping pull ups for the regular ones. I also added 50 sit ups to the end of the workout. I feel tired now.

YESTERDAY'S TOTAL: 13
TODAY'S TOTAL: 4

Your Cross Fit sounds like something you ought to patent and sell to people...like a boot camp for your abs.
